FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
In their continued support of the law enforcement community, Renzo Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Clarksville is pleased to announce an expansion of their popular LEO Scholarship Program with their new Adopt-A-Cop BJJ affiliation.

According to adoptacopbjj.org, “Adopt A Cop BJJ was founded in 2020, after a slew of highly publicized police-involved shootings. Founder Mitch Aguiar is a professional mixed martial artist and former head combatives instructor for the Navy SEALs. As many began calling to ‘Defund the Police’, Mitch knew that it would only serve to exacerbate the problem. He believes that what our police officers really need is more and better training,” as such, Adopt A Cop BJJ was created “to address critical gaps in the department-funded training of front-line police officers by partnering with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gyms across the country to provide free or reduced rate memberships to police officers”
According to Aguiar’s Adopt-A-Cop BJJ, “Police officers often find themselves in volatile situations which can quickly turn deadly. In these combative situations, being the more skilled grappler allows the officer a greater amount of control over the situation, which decreases the likelihood of injury or death for both officer and suspect. Being a police officer is one of the most selfless, dangerous, and important jobs in our world today. Investing in our officers is an investment in our communities.”
At Renzo Gracie Clarksville, officers may register online for a free trial. After their first class they are offered an LEO Scholarship providing 4 months of unlimited Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training. In the past, they would then move into a full membership with an LEO discount.
With the Adopt-A-Cop BJJ partnership, while officers are on scholarship, they may apply for sponsorship with Adopt-A-Cop BJJ. If selected, they will be provided with a special membership at a monthly cost of only $50 per month. This rate is then reimbursable through Adopt-A-Cop BJJ provided the officer trains “at least once per week” and they “‘check-in’ by posting once weekly to Instagram using the hashtag #adoptacopbjj. An officer is sponsored until they reach the rank of blue belt, which is the second belt in jiu-jitsu and typically takes 12-18 months to earn.”
