Master Renzo Gracie’s first trip to Clarksville, TN, couldn’t have been more electric. The legendary BJJ pioneer descended upon the city, leaving a trail of delighted fans, insightful teachings, and a renewed sense of community in his wake.

It all began on Friday, December 15th, at Talley Hall Event Center. Master Renzo warmly welcomed the crowd with autograph signings, photos, and a chance to meet the icon himself. The energy was palpable as fans, old and new, soaked up the opportunity to connect with their hero.
The night continued with a special two-hour recording of “The After Mat Podcast,” hosted by Renzo Gracie Clarksville. Special guest host Joe Padula of the Joe Padula Show, alongside RGC Owner/Program Director James Hoskins and Head Professor Andrew Hansen, kept the conversation flowing as Master Renzo answered questions on everything from his childhood memories to his entrepreneurial philosophies. Student and co-host Calvin Gale skillfully navigated the audience queries, ensuring no topic went untouched.

The next day, the focus shifted to the mat. Renzo Gracie Clarksville Combat Sports and Wellness Center witnessed an influx of over 140 students from across Tennessee, Texas, Kentucky, and even Illinois, all eager to learn from the master himself. Master Renzo delivered a two-hour seminar packed with BJJ techniques, practical insights, and his signature brand of inspirational storytelling.
A particularly touching moment came when Master Renzo presented awards of appreciation to a group of RGC students who spearheaded disaster relief efforts in the wake of recent tornadoes. Professor Andrew Hansen, who tirelessly led the initiative, was honored with an award for Meritorious Conduct. It was a powerful reminder of the BJJ community’s strength and unwavering support in times of need.
Even after the seminar concluded, Master Renzo’s dedication to his students shone through. He spent nearly two hours signing autographs, posing for photos, and engaging in personal conversations. Each interaction was imbued with his genuine warmth and passion for BJJ, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
