Martial artists are a rare breed. They commit themselves day in and day out to bettering their art, often sacrificing time with family and friends to train. But even the most dedicated martial artist needs to take some time off occasionally.
That’s why at Renzo Gracie Clarksville we offer holiday open mats. On most federal holidays, RGC will cancel our regular classes and open the mats for two hours for anyone who wants to train. These mats are completely free and open to the public. We need only to have a waiver on file for you.
Of course, there are some exceptions. Most schools are closed on Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. These are important holidays for many families, and the school wants to give its students a chance to spend time with their loved ones.
But even on these holidays, you can still find ways to train. There are many online resources available, and some schools even offer virtual open mats. So even if you can’t make it to the gym, you can still stay in shape and improve your skills.
Taking time off from martial arts can be difficult, but it’s important to remember that it’s not a sign of weakness. In fact, it’s a sign of strength.
