George Byard brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the center, holding black belts in Shotokan, Judo, and Japanese Jiu-Jitsu and a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. A Clarksville native, George grew up in the community, graduating from Montgomery Central High School before pursuing his education at Austin Peay State University.
In addition to his martial arts accomplishments, George has deep roots in MMA and has over 12 years of training experience. Despite beginning his competitive MMA journey after age 40, he impressively completed three MMA fights. His coaching portfolio is equally remarkable, having guided fighters at every level—from amateur to professional—across major promotions including UFC, Gamebred, Anthony Pettis, and Island Fights. Notably, George formerly served as the corner man for UFC fighter Jacob “The Killer” Kilburn and as both coach and cornerman for Alexander “Pretty Boy” Schenk.
Beyond his professional achievements, George is a devoted family man, happily married to Denise Byard, and the proud father of twin daughters Ashten and Brennan, who both hold black belts in Shotokan. His dedication to martial arts extends through his family, creating a legacy of strength and discipline.
George’s favorite quote, “And I love you, Random Citizen” from Metro Man, reflects his approachable and positive nature, traits that will undoubtedly make him a beloved coach at Renzo Gracie Clarksville.
