​Winter Seminar features promotions and defenses

Renzo Gracie Clarksville & Professor Brian Marvin hosted the 2021 Winter Seminar with much success this Saturday. Over 40 students and instructor joined in as Professor Brian Marvin, one of Renzo Gracie Clarksville’s founders, demonstrated knee slice defense and defending single leg x and x guard.

The seminar also featured several promotions to blue, purple, and brown belts. This tops off total end of year promotions including: 13 blue belts, 3 brown belts, 1 purple belt, 5 grey/white belts, 1 grey belt, 3 grey/black belts, and 1 yellow/black.

One blue belt promotion was especially important to us as Professor James Hoskins promoted our own staff member, Duvien Garcia. After promotion by James and Brian, her mother Charlene Sekiya was invited onto the mat to deliver Duvien’s promotion throw.

The seminar was followed by an open mat and team potluck open to team members and their families.
