A Weekend of Competition: Renzo Gracie Clarksville Takes on Three Major Tournaments

This Saturday, April 13, Renzo Gracie Clarksville will be abuzz with excitement and anticipation as our dedicated teams of competitors gear up to showcase their skills in three prestigious tournaments across Tennessee. As a result, there will be no classes held on this day, allowing our athletes the opportunity to focus entirely on their respective competitions.

Led by the seasoned expertise of Professor Andrew Hansen, our adult Brazilian jiu-jitsu competition team is set to make waves at the IBJJF Spring Open Championships, hosted at the Williamson County AG Expo Park in Franklin, Tennessee. With an impressive contingent of over 60 members, our team is primed to demonstrate their prowess on the mat and vie for top honors in this highly competitive event.

Meanwhile, Sensei David Lavelle, along with Charlene Sekiya and Brinna Lavelle, will be leading our judo competition team as they journey to Knoxville for the Tennessee State Judo Championships, taking place at the University of Tennessee. Armed with skill, determination, and a spirit of camaraderie, our judo athletes are prepared to leave it all on the mat as they strive for victory in this esteemed tournament.

Not to be outdone, our boxing squad, under the guidance of Coach Duane “Ed” Edwards, will be stepping into the ring at the Mid-South Golden Gloves Regional Tournament, hosted at the Troupadar in Nashville. With a blend of technique, agility, and sheer tenacity, our boxers are poised to deliver electrifying performances and carve out their place among the region’s boxing elite.

For our competitors, these tournaments represent more than just an opportunity to showcase their skills—it’s a chance to push themselves to new heights, test their mettle against formidable opponents, and forge lasting memories on the path to excellence. Their dedication, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to their craft serve as a testament to the values of discipline, respect, and sportsmanship instilled within our Renzo Gracie Clarksville community.

As we send our best wishes and unwavering support to all our competing teams, we invite our members and supporters to join us in cheering them on from afar. While classes may be paused for a day, the spirit of determination and passion that fuels our athletes knows no bounds. Together, let’s rally behind our competitors as they embark on this weekend of fierce competition, representing Renzo Gracie Clarksville with pride and distinction.

Stay tuned for updates and results from the tournaments as we celebrate the achievements of our talented athletes. Go Team Renzo Gracie Clarksville!
