Circuit fitness is growing popularity because it combines both cardio and strength training exercises for an efficient, quick workout. Usually, circuits range from 8–10 exercises, but that varies based on the goal of the class, time available, and experience levels of the participants. Once all exercises have been completed, you may rest for 1–2 minutes, then repeat the exercises. Most circuits are completed 1–3 times. No two circuit training classes will necessarily look the same. The types of exercises included in circuit training vary considerably depending on a person’s performance and health goals, experience, mobility, and other factors.
HIIT, or high intensity interval training, is a training protocol alternating short periods of intense or explosive anaerobic exercise with brief recovery periods until the point of exhaustion. HIIT builds on circuit, but with increased endurance training, resistance training, and high-intensity aerobics. Similar to circuit, HIIT workout routines are varied.
Even though circuit is a group class, reps and intensity level is customizable to the individual student. As you work through your reps and exercises, Renzo Gracie Fitness staff will help tailor the workout to your needs. All levels, from novice to the advanced student, are welcome in our classes.
