July 1, 2024

Hello Team,

As we move into the month of July we are still in the midst of the transitions.  This is not a bad thing.  One of the many lessons I have learned through Jiu jitsu is not to fear transitions.  A positive position can become a negative one all too quickly.  However, the same applies to the negative turning positive.  Give it time…….we are still transitioning.  I, for one, am excited and encouraged as to how our staff has responded.

  1. The coaches meet monthly to discuss curriculum, morale, and the efficacy of the training.
  2. Daily journal entries are made by the coaches for the coaches to discuss techniques and progression.
  3. Monitors are being added to the employee lounge to review competition and class footage to tweak performance.
  4. The expansion should be completed mid July.
  5. We will be changing the green and grey carpeted area to turf to expand our strength and conditioning area.
  6. The lounge area will be moved to the back, it will have a monitor for viewing the mat area, as well as the TV for viewing.
  7. The “Dungeon” will move across from the lounge area and will consist of training mats, heavy bags and striking area.
  8. The trophy cases and shelves have been removed to give the strikers and wrestlers more training space.
  9. These transitions are to accommodate our growth and for safety.

Why am I sharing so much?  I believe that communication is important and has been inconsistent.  So, it will be something we endeavor to improve.  I look forward to our continued growth and your feedback.

Sincerely,

Prof. James “Habanero” Hoskins
